Series B selections involve basic Bb concert scale for brass, flute, and saxophone. Clarinet range is from F below mid C to 4th space C. Some arrangements have an optional [upper register] part. Selections are designed to reinforce or introduce rhythm patterns. Tutti, woodwind, or brass and saxophone grouping is used. Four part harmony is derived by dividing the clarinets into two parts. Clarinet I, will play low parts below middle C. Clarinet II is used on the melody or 2nd harmony part of Tutti sections. Soli passages are matched with low brass and percussion; therefore, eliminating thin spots. these pieces are fun to play for everyone in the band.
